Main Issues Concerning Compressions
Effective chest compressions are the cornerstone of CPR. Defined parameters and standards for training and performance of CPR were first published in 1974 (JAMA, 1974), and are periodically revised. The 2005 AHA guidelines represent current best practice and form the basis for all CPR training and certificates in the US. Chest Compressions have become the central part of CPR over the last few years.
Research has found out just how important performing compressions correctly can be to the survival chance of a victim. But exactly what happens when you perform a compression? Why is it important to do them properly.
